Lake Macquarie is approximately a 1.5 hours drive taking the Pacific Highway and up the F3 freeway. There are also coach companies that travel to Lake Macquarie regularly.

Country and Citirail trains travel to the Western side of Lake Macquarie stopping between Wyee in the south to Fassifern in the north. Belmont has an airport where flights from Sydney arrive and depart.

Alternatively if lapping waters and gentle shorelines are more your style, relax at the beaches dotted around the Lake itself. Sandy inlets, secluded bays and protected foreshores feature around the Lake, perfect for swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving and fishing. Wangi Point, Pelican, Cam's Wharf and Shingle Splitter's Point come highly recommended.

For East Lake; take the Budgewoi/Swansea exit for Nords Wharf, Cams Wharf, Catherine Hill Bay, Swansea, Blacksmiths, Pelican, Marks Point, Belmont & Charlestown. For West Lake; take the Morisset/Cooranbong exit for Cooranbong, Morisset, Watagan Mountains, Myuna Bay, Wangi Wangi & Toronto. For North Lake; take the Cardiff exit for Speers Point & Warners Bay.
